東端 唯 Yui Higashibata
1974年京都府⽣まれ。漆⼯芸（蒔絵師）の家系に育つ。⾼校卒業後、漆芸家鈴⽊雅也⽒に師事、漆を基本から学ぶ。その後、京都⼯芸繊維⼤学でデザイン、建築を学び、漆⼯芸の技法と漆を通じて磨いた感性を基本にアート、建築、インテリアなど、さまざまな分野で新しい漆の可能性を探っている。
Born in Kyoto in 1974, he grew up in a family of lacquer craftsmen. After high school, he studied lacquer, design, and architecture. He pioneers new possibilities for lacquer by applying to different fields the techniques and sensibilities developed through his love of lacquer work.

深い藍色の漆は、日常から一歩離れた静けさと安らぎを、その上に重ねられた金がかった銀の波は、「麟鳳亀龍」と縁が深い水をテーマに、水の流れや水面に広がる水紋をモチーフとし、時代の流れ、人と人との「縁」、そしてその交差点に生まれる静かな繋がりを象徴しています。
それぞれの曲線は、まるで⼈⽣のなかで出会ってきた人々や記憶の軌跡のように、重なり合いながらも、それぞれのリズムで流れ、また離れていきます。その動きは、確かにそこに在ったという記憶の揺らぎであり、今という瞬間にだけ存在する唯⼀の構図でもあります。
この作品に映し出される交差と離反は、旅の途中にふと立ち寄ったこの場所で、⾒知らぬ誰かと交わす視線や微笑みのような、ほんの⼀瞬の出会いでありながら、どこか⼼に残る、静かで深い⼀期⼀会を表しています。
The deep indigo lacquer evokes a sense of tranquility and peace and a place far away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The silver waves symbolize the flow of time, the bonds between people, and the quiet connections that arise at their intersections. Like memories and the people we have met throughout our lives, each curve overlaps and flows with its own rhythm and then separates. The intersections and separations depicted in this work represent the fleeting, yet profound, encounters that linger in the heart like an exchange of glances or smiles with a stranger at a place one happens to stop by in the course of a journey.
