挾土 秀平 Shuhei Hasado
1962年、左官職人の２代目として岐阜県に生まれる。1983年技能五輪全国大会左官部門優勝。2001年「職人社秀平組」を設立。自然素材の表情や色を活かし、ストーリーのある壁を制作。ザ・ペニンシュラ東京、アマン東京、羽田空港国際線JALファーストクラスラウンジなどを手がけている。
Born in 1962 to a family of plasterers, he won first place in the plastering division at the National Skills Olympics in 1983. Using the expressive power of natural materials, he creates walls with narrative depth. His works adorn Tokyo's Peninsula and Aman hotels, among other facilities.

今回、ホテルの出迎えの壁面に、龍の創作依頼を受けました。
名古屋を象徴する龍の創作の意味を考えてゆくと、長い長いこの国の歴史の中でこの現代に、この出迎えに、過去にない新しい龍を生み出すことだと思いました。
風のような白龍が想い浮かびました。
舞いあがるのではなく、舞い降りる2つの龍の風…
そしてその龍と龍の間の余白に舞いあがる蝶を見たてました。
この壁面に舞う双龍と蝶…
そうして出来あがった創作は、風の壁として完成したように思います。
I was commissioned to create a dragon work on the wall to welcome guests to the hotel.
When I consider the meaning of creating a dragon as a symbol of Nagoya, I recognize my aim was to, within the vast history of the country, create a new dragon for the contemporary time, and for this reception – something never seen before.
I imagined a white dragon like the wind.
Not ascending – two wind dragons descending…
And I placed a butterfly in the space between the dragons.
Dragons and butterflies twirling on the wall…
To my eyes, the finished piece is as a wall of wind.
