挾土 秀平 Shuhei Hasado
1962年左官職人の2代目として岐阜県に生まれる。1983年技能五輪全国大会左官部門優勝。2001年「職人社秀平組」を設立。自然素材の表情や色を活かし、ストーリーのある壁を制作。ザ・ペニンシュラ東京、アマン東京、羽田空港国際線JALファーストクラスラウンジなどを手掛けている。
Born in 1962 to a family of plasterers, he won first place in the plastering division at the National Skills Competition Japan in 1983. Using the expressive power of natural materials, he creates walls with narrative depth. His works adorn the Peninsula Tokyo and Aman Tokyo, among other facilities.

ホテルの出迎えの壁面に、龍の創作依頼を受けました。
名古屋を象徴する龍の創作の意味を考えてゆくと、
長い長いこの国の歴史の中で、この現代に、この出迎えに、
過去にない新しい龍を生み出すことだと思いました。
風のような白龍が想い浮かびました。
舞いあがるのではなく、舞い降りる2つの龍の風…
そしてその龍と龍の間の余白に舞いあがる蝶を見たてました。
この壁面に舞う双龍と蝶…
そうして出来あがった創作は、
風の壁として完成したように思います。
I created this dragon for the wall that welcomes guests to the hotel. I decided to welcome guests with a dragon, Nagoya’s symbol, the likes of which have never before been seen in this country, a dragon born for this modern era and for this task. I imagined two dragons swooping down rather than soaring upward. In the space between them, I envisioned a fluttering butterfly. Two dragons and a butterfly dancing upon this wall.
