福本 繁樹 Shigeki Fukumoto
1946年に滋賀県の湖北で生まれ、京都の染色職人の街で育つ。京都市立美術大学（現・京都市立芸術大学）西洋画科で学ぶ。オセアニアなどの民族美術研究や、工芸論・染色論などに取り組む。京都に発達した染色文化の新しい可能性を探ろうと、布と染料による表現を続け、さまざまな独自技法を開発。国内外の美術展で作品を発表している。
Born in 1946, he grew up in the dyeing district of Kyoto. He has researched ethnic art of Oceania and elsewhere as well as dyeing theory. In an effort to explore new possibilities for Kyoto's dyeing culture, he expresses himself using fabric and dyes while developing a variety of original techniques.

ベッドヘッドに祥雲の《玄武》、リビングに瑞雲の《青龍》を配置、長寿を祝う「亀龍の寿」の意味をこめた対作品。むらを基調とするたおやかな「なるほど染め※1」に、シャープな「布象嵌※2」などの手法を駆使、それらの対比や異種交配を試み、透明感のある神秘の世界を構成した。
作者はこれまで《四神相応》《風神・雷神》《八大》など、自然界の神秘的な事象の表現を試みてきた、その延長となる作品。画面から、雲霞・雲彩・閃光・光彩・喜雨・慈雨・雲龍・亀兆などなど、さまざまな解釈によるイメージを楽しんでほしい。

The bedhead features a black tortois cloud pattern and the living room features an auspicious azure dragon cloud pattern; this pair of works celebrates longevity (symbolized by tortois and dragons) and serve as an extension of the artist's previous attempts to express mystical phenomena in nature as exemplified by Four Divine Beings in Harmony, Wind God and Thunder God, and The Eight Great Elements.
