小川 待子 Machiko Ogawa
1946年北海道札幌市生まれ。1969年東京藝術大学工芸科卒業。1969～1971年パリ工芸学校で研修生として陶芸を学ぶ。1972～1975年西アフリカ各地で、人類学者の夫の調査助手として現地の土器作りの技法を学ぶ。近年の展覧会に2024年「鉱脈」（京都・思文閣）、2025年「小川待子展」（Galrie Frank Erbaz、パリ）、2025年「Art Basel Paris 2025」などがある。
Born in Hokkaido in 1946, she graduated from the Department of Crafts of the Tokyo University of the Arts in 1969. She studied ceramics at the École d’Arts et Métiers in Paris until 1971. From 1972 to 1975 she traveled to West Africa learning local pottery techniques as a research assistant to her anthropologist husband. Her recent exhibitions include Art Basel Paris 2025 in 2025, among others.

私は、「かたちはすでに在る」という考えのもとで、土のひびや割れ、欠け、ゆがみといった土本来の素材の性質を使って、「かたち」を見つけだす作品を制作しています。
さまざまな造形表現のなかで、この磁器土の塊とガラスフリットを組み合わせた「結晶と記憶」シリーズは、大地から掘り出された、長い記憶の時間を想起させる表現になっています。
Moving from the idea that form pre-exists, my creations bring out this latent form by making use of the inherent properties of clay, including its cracks, fractures, and imperfections. This series combines lumps of clay with glass frit to evoke long-held memories of time as if extracted from the earth.
